Closing parliamentary hearings entitled “State of human rights observance in Ukraine”, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Rybak said that “there are positive shifts in the sphere of human rights”. “We have made some achievements on this way, but lots of work is still ahead,” he said, noting that the problem lies in the fact that not everyone wants these changes to be more dynamic.
Volodymyr Rybak noted that the wish to change situation for better was voiced out in the majority of speeches. He said that all the suggestions will be thoroughly studied by the specialized Committee and than referred for approval in the form of recommendations to parliamentary hearings.
Summing up, the Chairman of the Parliament stressed that the court system requires reforming and activity of law-enforcement departments and the prosecutor’s office should be performed in line with human rights protection. According to him, poverty and unemployment fight should be continued. The system of health care protection should be available to an average citizen, likewise, the possibility to run business based on fair competition, etc. Volodymyr Rybak stressed that openness and transparency of executive authorities and participation publicity in the process of formation and implementation of state policy should be ensured in order to reach the abovementioned tasks.
“Hearings have proved once again that we are united by our wish for adequate protection of human rights in our Ukrainian state,” said the Chairman of the Parliament.
